Normal People at New York Fashion Week? Street Style That’s Anything But Ordinary
New York Fashion Week – Street Style Edition, Part 1
Every season, New York Fashion Week brings out the big names — and the even bigger outfits. But in between the runways and front rows, there’s another show happening on the sidewalks: street style. Supposedly, it’s where “normal people” shine. But Reddit? Reddit had some thoughts.

HWait… These Are ‘Normal’ People?
It didn’t take long for the illusion to crack. The original poster meant well — highlighting fashion beyond the catwalks — but commenters were quick to call out the not-so-average folks in the spotlight.
“Normal people? The third girl is literally a Victoria’s Secret Angel.”
“Almost every single one of these looks like a model. The average person is not rail thin, perfectly symmetrical, and dressed HtT in designer clothing.”
“These aren’t ‘normal’ people. They’re attending NYFW — they’re in the industry.”
Translation? Even when it’s called “street style,” the runway might just be wrapped in cobblestone and caught by paparazzi.
The Looks Still Slay — Maybe More Than the Celebs
Despite the debate over who’s real and who’s runway-adjacent, one thing everyone agreed on? The style.
“The vast majority of these people look more fashionable and better than the celebs I’ve seen there.”
Some outfits screamed effortless chic, others were walking art installations. And in contrast to over-produced celeb red carpet moments, these photos had that coveted, candid energy.
